American professional triathlete and doctor of physical therapy Evan Culbert has now been competing for years and his vision for the sport is to race and podium at the Ironman 70.3 World Championship at the professional level.
The tenacious plant-based triathlete’s next race is one week from this Sunday, and it’s a big one. He will be starting to compete on the Ironman 70.3 circuit against the best professional triathletes in the world. He will likely be racing Indian Wells Ironman 70.3 on December 8th in CA or gearing up to jump into the Ironman 70.3 circuit again next season and beginning races in early spring.
Performance at a pro-level can put the body under stress both physically and mentally.
“I ended up with a great result at the Tempe Triathlon last weekend and finished 2nd place overall, but it left me pretty banged up physically and mentally. So putting the body first right now to focus on recovery and health”.
The awesome impact Raw Living Spirulina has had on my mind and body.
“Looking over my data today I’m am continually impressed with the improvements I have been making since RLS became a part of my nutrition. My training platform calculates a fitness score each week based on all of the data recorded during workouts. This winter and spring I was hovering around 109-110 pretty consistently. Once I began eating a scoop of RLS at the start of May, my fitness began climbing each week, and is still climbing!
Yes, my training has increased and become more focused, but I 100% know that Raw Living Spirulina allows me to recover and absorb the training that I do every day so much better than I have been able to before – not only am I seeing the numbers, I am feeling it”.
Anything you want to add to the Raw Living Spirulina nutrition?
“The only bummer that I have had is not being able to take RLS with me to races, so I feel like I miss out on 3-4 days of green power! It’s doable when driving but tricky when flying to races. Not sure that there is a solution for it, because the reason it’s so good is that it is in raw living form. That’s just what popped into my head”.
How being vegan increased your endurance?
“It’s very simple. I started eating a plant-based diet and I felt better and began performing better. Never looked back”!
What do you want to achieve?
“I want to lead by example – that athletes can compete at the highest level of the sport on a plant-based diet and not only get what they need in terms of nutrition but thrive and improve their performance. RLS is a big component of that. My sights are laser-focused on succeeding athletically in the sport at the moment, but once my racing career is wrapping up I have plans to coach junior athletes and I would like to incorporate my physical therapy side to create an Adapted Triathlon event in my community for children with disabilities to be able to participate in a triathlon”.
