If you were to ask a practitioner of traditional medicine, “How can I reduce my body heat?” they’re likely to recommend adding more cooling foods and herbs to your diet to bring things into balance.
A variety of fruits, veggies, herbs, and other foods you likely already include in your diet can have a cooling effect, such as peppermint, lemons, coconut water, melons, etc.
LEMONADE, for example, for us is a LEGITIMATE SUMMER drink. A lemonade helps with rehydration and remineralizes us during a sun, sweat, and heat season. However, a good & healthy lemonade is hard to find. The ones available are filled with tablespoons or even cups of sugar and other stabilizers.
The following recipe isn’t what your grandmother once made, but I promise that if you serve it up to that gaggle of wellness-loving friends who’ve overtaken your pool this summer, they’ll beg you for more. Refreshing, alkalizing & delicious, this green Raw Living Spirulina lemonade offers endless summer vibes.
Enjoy!

Alkalizing Effects
Although acidic, lemons produce an alkalizing effect in the body. They aid digestion and detoxification and support liver function while boosting energy and relieving belly bloating.
Enhances Immunity
Lemons are a good source of vitamin C, an essential nutrient linked to increased immune health. Gram for gram contains about the same amount of vitamin C in lemon vs. orange nutrition.
Also, lemons are loaded with antioxidants to help fight inflammation and promote improved immunity.
A review in the Annals of Nutrition & Metabolism noted that getting enough vitamin C could help reduce the duration and severity of respiratory tract infections.
Lemons are also high in antioxidants. Antioxidants have been shown to protect your immune cells by neutralizing harmful free radicals and keeping your body free of infections caused by bacteria or viruses.
Royal Jelly
Nurse worker bees produce them to feed and raise new queen bees. Queen bees live for 3 to 4 years, whereas worker bees only live for 5 to 6 weeks. This means royal jelly extends the queen bee’s life by over 3000%! Now, there is no guarantee you’ll live 3000% longer than the average human by using royal jelly. Still, there are reports of lowered blood pressure, increased energy, fat loss, and skin rejuvenation when used topically.
Living Spring Water
Raw spring water is a healthy alternative to regular water because it’s completely natural and has not been filtered or processed. Because it’s not treated at all, it contains more minerals.
Some research has found that spring water is more alkaline, which could help prevent acid reflux, decrease bone loss, boost hydration status, and support blood circulation.
Intracellular Fluid
There is no better liquid than fresh coconut water. Period! The health benefits are truly astounding. However, save your money on something other than boxed, canned, or bottled coconut water. They are all pasteurized (dead water). Fresh Florida Coconut Water
Peppermint
For example, peppermint is among the most popular cooling herbs; thanks to menthol in this plant, it has a naturally chilling effect. Mint — fresh, in a lemonade like this— is especially helpful for supporting digestion and reducing stomach pain and inflammation.
